Can anyone offer any info on the Silverstone auction car

    http://www.silverstoneauctions.com/1...-cosworth-lux-

Had a good look at it today with a view of bidding on it tomorrow, looked ok, but has had paint and has it not got the wrong steering wheel for a big turbo

It's now on an M plate, first registered 1995, story I'm told is that it sat unregistered for 2 years?

Any info would help in making my mind up on figures or to stay away, pm if you prefer to keep things confidential

Agreed on the paint, but I'm interested why its had paint if anyone has any info, and the steering is off a small turbo, unless I'm going potty

I doubt there's many that haven't had paint. It's got the wrong gear knob, the correct one should have a white insert. It's had a repro gear gaitor, pretty sure it's had a cam cover respray as that looks too light for me. It's not a homologation model as they were all manufactured in 1992 iirc.
        Looks a nice car though

No, there were big turbo cars with airbag steering wheels.

Didn't know that, always thought the big turbos had the non air bag wheels, learnt something new

As others have said the gear knob is wrong, I also think the steering wheel is not from a 1993 car. Also I think the radio has been fiddled with. I thought that all cars had a radio cassette, most cars also had a CD player but if you didn't pay for the CD player you got a 7 way graphic equaliser which is what my car came with.

The paint worries me a bit, sure it's 23 years old, but it's never been anywhere. Surely if you were going to buy a car to not use then you would look after it.

Ps my cossy has its original paint, is that super rare?

thanks for the info guys, there are a couple of niggly things about the car that don't really bother me, but not knowing why its had some much paint is a worry, Silverstone acting dumb and obviously cant speak to owner, was it a refresh or some sort of unrecorded damage years ago

Bit off topic but i got truely fucked off with my Escos this year, Creative carbon took 16 months to deliver my carbon parts and when they arrived they were utter crap and i lost all interest in my car.

But, looking at the pictures of this car for sale reminded me how beautiful they are and has given me that spark to get mine out again. There is nothing wrong with my car other than a cracked front splitter, so tomorrow will be spent taking her for a blast

Thing to remember is that despite the faults you are worried about, that Silverstone auction car is still as good or better than 75% of the cars on this forum.

Any specialist Ford used car dealer with a modern showroom would be glad to market the car on a commission sale basis for £ 30 k plus, even if it takes a couple of years to find the right buyer. Not everyone wants a 100% perfect car.
