Good morning all,
As some of you are aware, I've been trying to upgrade a copy of the forum to the latest vbulletin release, however due to the current forum being so out of date the upgrade path is not an easy one without having to setup another hosting account to create a test site.
We have now taken the decision to go ahead and upgrade this site, we do know that the vb Advanced Content, Arcade and Garage will not work after the upgrade, I'm not overly bothered by the Arcade and Garage for the time being, but I'm unsure what part of the site has the vb Advanced content. There does appear to be an upgrade path for this, which hopefully can be applied fairly quickly (although I will create a test site and do that before upgrading this site, as I want to limit the impact as much as possible, once we move we can run the test site from the same hosting account as this).
So I will be turning off the forum at 6am on Friday 18th November and updated the PHP version, vbulletin will be doing the upgrade as it will be quicker and we will have more support should anything happen whilst doing it. This will take around 2 to 3 hours, so I'd like to think we will be back up and running mid morning, albeit it will most likely feel very very different. I will post a reply to this thread once it is all complete and ready to be used again.
Should the worst happen we will have full backups and be able to restore back to this version, hopefully we won't need to, however you will need to bear with us whilst we iron out any issues we encounter, I don't like doing these things blind but we don't have a great deal of choice at this time.
The forum functionality will work straight away, it will be other bits and pieces that don't but at this moment in time I just can't say how it will behave.
