  • Moral dilemma

My Bro bought new cooker of a online electrical company (can't remember the name but never heard of them before)
It turns out he ordered the wrong cooker for his kitchen so he asked if they could swap with another, they agree and charged him £105 extra (the difference as it was more and delivery charges)
The new cooker arrived and my bro had wrapped the old one up and said are you going to take it, they said not that we are aware of and went off.
They refunded the money for the old cooker but have never picked it up it was £440 worth and quite decent. Its been three months now and never heard a thing!

Would you chase the company up or bang it out on ebay

    Where does he stand?

At the end of the day it's not his and one day someone will turn up for it and he'll end up in court if he's flogged it.

I had a hire car a few weeks ago, and they were supposed to come and pick it up on the Saturday, but didn't come til Monday, should I have flogged it over the weekend?
    Cheers

He could always ring them up and say he was going to start charging storage fees for it, I bet the buggers would be round then for it quick enough!

I'd leave it a bit longer, then sell it on.

might be worth ringing about something else just to check they ain't gone bust

Could be awkward if they do come looking would be worth the risk if it was a couple of grand at stake but it may only fetch £300 on the bay if he's lucky - that's not to be sniffed at but weigh it up against the potential aggro and it's not much

Yep, I would do the same...... Looks like they have made some kind of clerical error. If they ever did turn up - I would say that the blokes who delivered the replacement took it!

I have just read back what i posted above and am horrified that it was a very middle aged and sensible suggestion

New suggestion - put cooker in garden on extension lead and stuff cooker with fireworks - turn on, stand back and enjoy

That's what Vivian from the Young Ones would do I feel better now

                    Looking forward to the pics.......

Your suggestion was far to kind in the first place, I had a similar situation recently where I bought an ankle strap (different straps for the different sides), ordered a right one, they sent me the left, so they said we will get a replacement sent out but if you could return the other one it would be appreciated. They sent the replacement out I sent the other back and they sent me another one, so now I have 2 straps for the same bleeding ankle wish I had kept the left one now

Their balls up, if they aint missed it in 3 months they wont miss it at all imo. If some one did phone up about it, you just say they took it away when they dropped the new one off. Even the delivery fellas wont remember by now, think how many houses they go to a day.
