  • T4 turbo

There is a T4 turbo over here in OZ for sale, what is needed to fit it to my escos, would it make any more power than the standard big turbo turbo? What else would i need to fit it, how much is one worth? second hand.

330bhp at the moment, think its a stage 3 conversion. RS 500 intercooler ,light blues, mountune chip, 3 inch decat exhaust. 3bar MAP.

what spec of T4 is it?
there are many variants of a T4, some which will happily cater for 550bhp, but even as a standard RS500 spec T4 it would push you lot further than a big turbo turbo.

to fit a T4, you will need a 2wd manifold, a suitable turbo damper, suitable turbo to intercooler boost pipe and inlet boost pipe.
if changing from a 4x4 manifold to a 2wd manifold then ideally you will need to extend the exhaust down pipe to suit aswell.

This is how the write up goes. Genuine Garret T04 fully rebuilt and unused since, T3 flanged with a .63 internal gated exhaust housing and a .70 compressor cover with 3 inch intake.
            What do you all think?

To fit it you'd need a 2wd exhaust manifold, revised oil feed, some form of turbo damper and bigger hoses. You may also need to mod your exhaust downpipe to make it clear the ARB/Bodywork.

Thing is, unless you do engine work, all that turbo will give you is more lag. Its possible to get over 400bhp on a standard engine, but in real worl conditions it'd probably be slower than a good t35 engine...

In my opinion i'd hybrid your own turbo, fit bigger injectors and a new chip - aim for around 370bhp on your 35

put simply, after all is said and done you will need head work to make use of the extra air a T4 can flow

Whats involved with hybriding my own turbo what does this mean and how does it work better? ie more flow. what head work would i need to do to get the T04 to work well.
TONY. This tubo in for sale at a starting price of $800 witch is about 460 quid buy it now for $1000 , 577 pounds.

Cheap turbo, but you will need a hell of a lot of engine work to make it work, and your gearbox will need uprating.

As a minimum, IMHO, you would need:

                    1) ported head 25/26mm ports
                    2) wrc or cometic head gasket
                    3) long studded block
                    4) 83lbs injectors
                    5) 2wd manifold and turbo damper
                    6) bd 14 or 16 inlet cam
                    7) low comp pistons with valve cut outs
                    8) remap to suit
