  • 18 inch wheels vs 16 inch wheels??????

It is that long since I have driven an Escort Cosworth on standard 16 inch wheels I forget what it felt like. Has any one driven these back to back? Is there more compliance on the road (soaking up small bumps)? Vagueness, if any steering wise? Is the cornering speed's noticeable? Less or more road noise? I know some of this will be tyre dependant but if so which is the best option tyre wise.

Yeh 16s is the way, changed mine last back last year, after 15yrs on 18s.
Feels like I've got power steering, turns in better, doesn't tramline, less road noise, less crashy, and much much more fun to drive, and dare I say it, probably marginally quicker because of the rotational size and less weight.
Should have changed back donkeys ago, 18s look the part to some, but, i prefer the std look.

I've kept mine on the standard ones, if I'd have changed then I'd have had to go big brakes, and then that becomes a slipperly slide of expense. I prefer the 16's on standard cars then the larger wheels on modded ones.

Yeah 18's look class but I did guess all the down sides you mention. Am in a quandary do I go back that also means standard brakes and more cost The fact 18's are crashy and noisy has put me off them tbh.

I think tyre selection is just as important with 18's... on the 16's I felt the car was tail happy..

Interesting so what tyre would be recommended for the 18s to make them nicer?
