Just joined the site and what a great first thread to read, awesome
i have just finally bought a Escort after wanting a Sapphire all my life since going in the back of my dads friends one in 1989. He was driving it how it was intended to be driven and all he kept saying to me is don’t tell your farther! It is a memory that stuck with me my whole life and I dreamed of owning one my whole life especially after passing my test obviously. I looked at so many periodically over the years and a few I went to see I should have bought but didn't and owned other great cars though. The time had come in September this year, after continuing a long time Sapphire search, I started looking at a few escorts as for me it was the only other car for me I could possibly top the Sapphire with and lucky for me the right cossie came up that I could not walk away from at age 34 FINALLY!
Happy man would be an understatement and it sits in the garage awaiting the summer with her stable mate my R5 GT turbo

Bought mine in 2003 when I was 31, now 45 and i just dont use it anymore, in fact just before xmas I moved it out of the garage for the first time in 3 years and put it in long term storage, its now hoisted up 8 feet in the air onto a mezzanine floor of a friends car storage unit, its covered up and can sit there for years now while I get on with building my new saph cosworth race car.
I'm in no rush to drive the escort at all, but it is great when I do.
