New Focus RS

Hi all, I'm thinking of buying a Focus RS any of you got them & can recommend any do's or donts?? Been out in 1 & loved it & just missing not playing in a fun car over winter months. All help appreciated.

Which one? Mk1, 2 or 3? As they are all very different.

Honestly, would get something else... Only heard To much problems... Awd system dont handle abuse over time, allot of scrap engines already... I have impresion that Ford just pushed IT out and hoped IT would be okay...

Those limited run red ones that are out in Jan look nice, suits it better than british gas blue

I have one, great car no issues whatsoever, dealers have new ones in stock so deals are possible,

Friend has one and has nothing but good things to say about it, the only thing that would put me off is the countless amount of engine failures they have, OK if your buying new and don't want to tune it (unless you go for warranty friendly mountune) but the secondhand market could be a dangerous place unless it carries the ford warranty and hasn't been messed with. I'd deffo have one.

My mate had one brand new, lasted 2 weeks then punted, far better cars out there at that price range

..as i understand go for V5 engine marking as the earlier version V4 had issue with block cracking...please correct me if i am wrong...i am also waiting for the new version..

I have one fpm 375 and quaife diff
its a great car but some engines have failed

To be honest, I'd wait another year until all the kinks have been worked out. Complete engine failures don't give much confidence and I'd wait to see what kind of modifications are developed to prolong drivetrain life.

Seem to be a lot of engine problems from what's been posted around the net, should be virtually none on such a new car, they look very capable but needs clarity on what the issues are and if ford will cover it all

I dont know, but open deck design might be one of the things making issue... The 5cyl Volvo engine used in previos st/rs had same, and its a "known" weakness and one of main limiters for high power in them... So maybe this causing some of the problem... .

All i can say is that the Ford flag is not easy to proudly wave anymore... Seems like more and more of new fords is very badly designed..

Ive just ordered a red edition, was never a fan of them if I am honest, still unsure about the looks but i enjoyed the drive and hope the red edition holds its value a bit better.

I've one with the mountune 400 conversion. Brilliant car love driving it and not given me any trouble and mine was one of the first.
