  • Fuel gauge sender.

I know these are near impossible to get but has anyone grafted any other type of sender unit on to the Escort Cosworth one. Mine reads full all the time now after plugging it back in.

I have the exact same problem only mine reads 2/3. Disaster.

Has anyone experimented with installing a universal one ? I see many companies out there selling all types of senders. They list them by ohm

The gauge is the same as the MK5 escort so I think the sender unit of the MK5 would suit . I will give it a go (well kinda have to) and let youse know if it works. Have to find one of them also.

Not using the full bit just replacing the actual variable resistor part.

Royt, dug out the spare. Humpty can be split apart and put back together again. The potentiometer is plastic printed circuit piece that rivets to the metal capsule.

The float is about 115mm radius and 90¨¬ travel. The potentiometer is linear and 200¥Ø total resistance.

It is 3 wire, Yellow, Brown & White.

White is Ground for the wiper arm of the potentiometer.

                      Yellow to Ground resistance is:
22¥Ø at tank full and 147¥Ø at tank empty.

                      Brown to Ground resistance is:
178¥Ø at tank full and 53¥Ø at tank empty

                      Cheers

                        Great info JSA.
Colours could be different, as my one has brown, green and blue. Maybe because this one was bought as a service part.
