  • Boost issue (free easter egg to winner! lol)

So, pre-Nurburg trip July 2018 I had a boost issue. Would only boost to 27psi peak and hold 24/25. Should be 30 psi max and sit on 24/25.

Over Christmas, the head gasket needed doing as it was using water. So all that is sorted and the car is running great. Later found that the T34/63 bearing was worn and the wastegate arm had bent which all needed rebuilding by Vince Osborne, which was sorted.

Boost leak test up to 36psi with nothing showing at all, amal valve jetted correctly (as is a 2wd) and the -31 is brand new. I've even unplugged the amal and actuator to make the turbo boost the world......but still only 27psi and held 27 for a couple of seconds. Also tried 2 other boost gauges which state the same and my pectel monitor also only shows the same boost.

    Aaaaand discuss

    Higher backpressure then before.
check the exhaust so the CAT is not clogged
check if any leakages in exhaust manifold
check the turbo if the compressor or turbine don't have some wear on them
check so your AFR is right, low boost can show if you don't have enough fuel.

Maybe the last one, will check with SCS when they have time.

No cat on it. Turbo new and manifold is ok.
