I will be looking into getting all the running gear for my rebuild soon, this might sound obvious to some but can i fit a sierra 4x4 gearbox into my escort cos are there any differences?

Yes just the reverse light switch wiring connector might need adapting and the bolts that hold the prop on are shorter on the escort but that's easy enough I got escort ones off Ebay brand new.

Late sierra gearbox yes, if use early, you need front section of prop, and donut from early to...

Then you have a problem... The early box with the old donut (long screws), dont have the long centerpin to alligne the propshaft....

These pictures are from my car, the gear box had longer bolts which I changed for escort ones and the prop set up is all escort. The box came from a sapphire 4x4 on a G plate. Is that centre pin in the picture what you are referring to?

Yes the centerpin. On later Sierra and Escos the outgping shaft in gearbox have longer centerpin, donut and front section of prop is diffrent, when you use early gearbox with later donut and prop, the centerpin dont reach prop.

91, but just get pic of the rear, so you see its the long center pin(if you still have that) problem is that boxes might have Been changed before, som check always... I just found early box in my Sierra 4x4 prosjekt i bought last now, wich is one of the last made, since box had Been changed before...

So check wich donut and prop you have, so all is correct

Same on Sierra and scorpio yes, but get a few non genuine replacement, som probaly that.

Also should be a spacer beetween bearing and shell, about 10mm, so the prop goes straight from gearbox.
