  • Dog box

Was speaking to bara today about uprated diffs, got into subject of my gearbox, my standard ratio straight cut box...

He mentioned that it would have a build number from him on it, found it and gave him it, 2 seconds later, ahh yes that's a dog box!

Anyone ran a dogbox on the road? How horrendous is it?

Not ran one on the road but have one in my race car its awesome, you don't have to press the clutch on the upshifts and the faster you do them the cleaner the gearchange seems to be
mine is a quaife straight cut dogbox with ATB centre diff

slow gearchanges on a relaxed drive on the road might be clunky on a dogbox

Yea I've no doubt it would be perfect for trackday stuff, but I was already dreading the noise of just straight cut gears let alone the dog engagement lol, might stick it in for a while just for an "experience" haha

Will go and throw a gripper diff in the rear just to make it even more practical for the towns! Hahaha

Hahaha, ear defenders arent really what I'm looking for lol,
while car is stripped I may get a load of sound deadening on the tunnel etc to help ease it a bit! Initially I wanted to sell and get something more practical but im too curious now! Apparently there was only 5 of the gearkits made, 3 are in boxes 2 kits are for spares, so makes me more determined to see what it's like!
