i used to have one of them and the 4 spoke one,got them from a guy in germany,he used to sell quite a few new ones, think he must have worked at fords or something, the hardest part is finding the correct boss for them as the hole pattern on the wheels is unique to fords as far as i know

I sold my 4 spoke one last month, that was unused too.Luckily I got the correct RS boss as well from Fords when I bought them.

mine used a genuine ford one and went on no probs,it was on my momo benneton wheel too so the ford fits a few wheels too aswell as the other RS/Wolf ones.

Yes your right, just the three holes, I found it strange too, the bolts were quite short as well.

So what exactly is involved in fiting the above wheel to an airbag escos?

This might be of no help whatsoever but i just put a 4 spoke on my BT non airbag model and the boss was 5051199. and it has 6 bolts, im sure ive seen 3 spoke wheels with 6 bolts aswell so thats the boss you need.

You have to change the top of the rack, thats what I,ve been told. Im not sure how to do it or whats involved, Martin from Reyland said its an easy enough job. Im not technical minded at all.

go to scrappys and find a donor escort with adjustable steering column,[non airbag version ] remove and bin the wheel, remove the plastic collar off the top of the shaft and then pull/slide off the top part of the housing complete with ign lock/barrel
it helps if you can find one with ign key as you will need this to remove the ign barrel so you can fit your own one
also get the top and bottom cowlings and the orange bonnet pull handle as these are slightly diff
you then need a suitable boss and your new wheel, job done

Why do you have to change the colum? I fitted a momo steering wheel to my old escort, just took the air bag off, measured the resistance and fitted a resistor in the plug tucked that up inside the boss and bolted it all up, and everything worked fine or is there something else different on a escos to a standard escort?
