  • Rear diff mount/cover plate problem

Right, i thought i would change the rear diff oil today so i got the car on axle stands with the wheels off the floor. Started undoing the cover plate but couldnt get to the top two because of the diff mount so i unbolted the mount from the plate and then from the chassis. Couldnt get the damn thing out so i ended up sacking it off and bolting it back up, only to find something had moved and now i cant get the two bolts back in that fasten the mount to the cover plate.
does this job need to be done with wheels on floor?
    Anyone else had this problem?

undo the bolts that hold the mount to the body and bolt it to the diff first and then using a jack to push the diff up then bolt it back to the body, wheels dont need to be on the floor

wot i would do mate is undo the uver ones but leve them still in then get the 2 that wont go in and put shanther on them to give them a lead then try again and just use a hide hammer and tap the case from side to side till they start to go in that should do the job

I found the diff seemed to have risen and i had a pinch bar in trying to lever the diff down to align the holes. The mount looks pretty fooked too so i might go for an uprated one but surely you dont have to take the tank and arb off to get the mount out do you?

I think you can just undo the arb from the floor, it should move out of the way enough for you to remove the diff hangar. At least I seem to remember doing something along those lines
