chips, mapping

undergoing gt30 conversion on my escos but wanting to know were is best place to get a chip for it. will i need a chip making specificaly to suit my engine spec? then if i get one does it need mapping aswell? wot benefits does mapping have- just wen my car was stage 3 with chip and then had it mapped twice for the money spent wasnt much diffrence? bit lost with all this lot. . .

you would want that live mapping mate, a easy well know "same across the range" stage chip is ok

stage 1,2,3 yeah all near enough the same and will be ok

but when you start changing to big turbos, cams ect then you need to have it done properly

the advantage of a live map is, your fuel economy and power will be better as your fulling at every point will be 100% and will get the most out of the engine

rather than being "thats near enough"

thanks j1mbo well explained mate, i have msd chip at min wich was for my old t34 and siemens 55s, now im using 83lb injectors wud that chip still be ok just require a live map? also looking into using air injectors?
and kelv for now sticking with the p8 ecu. . . . no doubt if or wen? my gearbox breaks il also look into aftermarket managment.

p8 is a cracking ecu fella

with the chip, it depends what msd have done with it as they tend to try and scramble the map so no one else can get into them,

but dependant where you take it, they would probably start with a new chip and go from there
