  • 97 & 99 Octane fuel - what do you use?

    Hello all

What make / RON fuel do you all use in your escorts? ive always used Shell Optimax/V Power or the Tesco 99 stuff but ive been reading up on Esso and BP Ultimate and i may use them more often this year, but just how much difference is there between them all and would it do any harm by using both 99 octane then 97 octane on a stage 1 car

    Thanks
    Mart

Optimax, as from what I have read it is the best and comes recommended by my tuner.
I have heard bad things about Tesco 99 so don't use it.
I have found my car has been excellent on petrol since 2007, I havent had to fill the tank in 3 years

I only ever put Shell V-Power in my Escort and Mondeo ST.

But my wife was saying this week that the the two Shell stations by me have not had any this week.

Must say I noticed the same recently in my S2 RS Turbo.

I used BP on my old engine as it was mapped for it. Now use Optimax on my current engine as its mapped for that

On a stage 1 (Unless professionally mapped) I would try using either for a week each and see which one the car prefers, if any. If none make a difference get the cheaper one as they are both good
