  • escort cossy floor pan

hey guys need some help. got an escort cosworth which needs work done to floorpan as rusted through at sills to pan section. cant seem to find any company that makes repair panels, could any other floor pan ie mk4 floor pan be modified as only need 6-8 inch run on either side.

I would have thought that a sierra floor pan would be better since they're a cut down version, but having said that any good welder should be able to fabricate them for you

also sills cant be got due to the fact they cum part of the rear quarter and front apillar sections, but u can use standard mk5 sills which need abit of modding to fit but thats ur best option, and the easiest.u cud also pm jacko on here and hel make u or mod u a set 2 fit on,as hes done them a few times

easy enough for a decent welder or bodyshop to do, seen my Dad do a few. Had to put a 40mm section on one side of mine.

So i plan to build a cosworth replica and got a mk6 escort off ebay for £200 as normal the sills have started to rot out so got a ball joint seperator and hammer then spent all of 2 minutes chasing the rust to the rear arch.

I ordered a new sill and now waiting for a mobile welder to come and glue it on.

So what is the actual difference between the escort and cosworth.

A sierra floorpan and a mk5 body put on it?

Ive heard a cosworth is an inch longer than a standard mk5 so where is it longer?

Thankyou for your help yes glue it on with a welder. Obviously being metal the best glue to use would be weld got quoted £200 for doing both sills so i cant grumble and it saves me from ruining the car.

I welded in the past and made a fiesta look like i served in afghanistan with the amount of holes i blew in the side of it!

Escort 3drs are getting quite rare so gambled and got it thinking that in a few years it might be one of the few but then a cosworth bodykit started to play on my mind and decided to just go for it!

Being a perfectionist it couldnt be a bodykitted chav mobile so thought id build a non genuine cosworth but be a genuine cosworth lol
