  • At what power do yb engines need double valve springs??

ive been puting bits on my engine for the last year or so geting it ready for a remap which i will take to reylands maybe next month, but ive just had a thought i still have standard valve springs.. my engine at the moment has a tt38, but everything else on the engine been done to make big power so i wouldnt be surprise it it knocked out 480bhp or something big on a tt38 as nothing should restrict the performance..

so how do i stand with the standard valve spring runing a bd14 inlet and a standard exhaust cam?

I'm on double valve springs, and solid lifters etc, but I'm over 500bhp.

Dom put piper double valve springs (dont need any head mods) on that combo seriously. Solid lifters if reving past 8200rpm.

                Ditto.

along with solid lifters, some wild cams to Martoons spec, big headwork and a rev limit of 8300rpm

I'd want Iskey's on anything with a sustained 6.5k+ rpm with above 2 bar of boost and solid lifters on anything above a sustained 7.5k (where the hydraulic lifters pump all the fluid out of them and get rattly).

I'm pretty much the same but I think mine revs to 8500rpm.

could you fit Iskey's on a stg3 engine or would you need to be running big power.. ie 450bhp+? hugh

does anyone know if i could fit double valve spring and solid lifters with out taking the head off??

how much are the solid lifters??

are the standard rods and pistons safe to rev to 8200??
