  • Non genuine starter motor?

My starter motor is starting to get a bit slow. Has anyone used a non genuine unit on their Cosworth? If so are they good and do they last? Saw some on fleabay for £50 delivered and they have lucas numbers on them, would these be ok?

I got one from the local motor factors. Had no problems so far.

i had a non genuine item from a motor factors which has recently died, gave me less than 2000 miles in just over 18 months, now got a genuine one on the car and what a difference!!! it even sounds better when starting it no to the non genuine, i will always buy genuine from now on on items like this and alternators etc.

They were about £110 from Fords a few years back. Brought genuine Ford alternator and starter for mine as I'm fussy
