  • Helicoils or time-serts?

My exhaust cam snapped this morning, 5 miles into my journey to Combe!!

Got towed home, checked the car out. Found the no 4 cam cap had sheared one stud and stripped the other - hence the cam snapped.

So I need an 8mm helicoil or time sert kit.

Anywhere I can get these from on a sunday?? Need an 8mm kit to fix my cam cap studs!!
    Cheers, Kev.

Most the cam caps on my old engine were helicoils which have lasted 4 years and still going not sure where to buy kits from tho.

I have used helicoil and time-sert many times on different engines, and i prefer time-sert. They never came up again as helicoil does sometimes. Have time-sert on one of my Cosworth engine on cam caps

i wud helicoil,as the caps have ben linebored from new and if not in correct place when bolted down ur just gona destroy the cam, also remember go easy tighneing the cap nuts as very easily rung
