Anyone on here into BMX's?

As above; does anyone know anything about bmx's My son is 3 and a hlaf and can already ride a bike without stabilsers I want to get him a propper BMX but all I can find are cheap horrible novelty bikes
I know we need a 10" frame and 14" wheels but am struggling to find anything any good.
What about building one
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

lol i'm on burnerworld right now typing rubbish to other blokes that are into there old kids bikes.


if you don't want a toys r us bike or argos special,if your old enough to remember when bmx first came to the uk you will of seen raleigh burners.

you can buy a old raleigh burner mini for little ankle biters and the trend now is to customise or rebuild to concourse for yer kids,there was even blokes racing old school mini burners at burner bash 2010 which i went too .
i got to meet Andy Ruffell and Craig Schofield and get there autographs.

I used to have the red and yellow raleigh burner when i was a kid. my mate had the blue and yellow one with mag wheels i was gutted.
then i got a diamond back freestyle and the chrome rusted off, then i got an amoco freestyle pro with two top tubes that was wicked id love another for cruising round on.

Thanks for the advice Karl but as much as a mini burner would be the 16" wheels are too big for him; he is only 3 and I think that is the main problem; nobody seems to make bmx's for people that young

the yellow and red one was a std entry level burner and the yellow and bluw would of been a tuff burner if it had skyways or a mag burner if it had simplexs.Skyways were the best as 99% of everyone wanted them. they were what i bouht and used and even now i got loads

you can buy 12.5's and fit them to a mini burner,being skyway i reckon when he out grows them they would sell on again to another dad wanting quality wheels.

Thats the site i steered Cozzmo towards and tbh you will find its the best for new school stuff even though its run by old school bmx heros into the sort of stuff i'm into,its just the biggest site so between them your gonna find what your after.

Somthing like this would be good plus you have room for the little lad to grow into over a few years befroe he needs a 20" bmx. I know these are good as my mate has ridden them street/park riding fairly hard without breaking much. ( he's a dwarf btw)

There is a good bmx shop local to me that could prob help with more trendy brands, but at his age is he that bothered yet , i doubt it.

I worked in bike shops for 4 years from school and have ridden bmx for nearly 15yrs and thats what i'd be looking at for my lad to start on. ( though of course you really nee to sit him on to check fit as ive no idea how big a 3 1/2year old is )

i think most good bmx mackers now do smaller versions. but i think most have 16" wheels.. heres a couple i found on ebay just for you to look at

I used to have a pro-lite Chrome frame and forks with skyway tuff 2's....wish I never sold it....now I'm rebuilding a mongoose fs1 circa 1985. Still has one original araya rim on the front..... best bikes ever made bmx's!!

I had a White mag burner, and I still own a mongoose decade, complete with White skyways, dia-compe brakes and the original "spin tech" head set. Showing my age now, the mongoose is 19 years old

although mine is no longer the light mint green. I was looking at it in the shed last week, it hasn't been used for 15 years, all it needs is a pair of tyres and inner tubes, a new chain and the bearings/cones on the back spindle replaced. I should get it sorted really.

Thanks for the suggestions. ATM I think the specialised hotrock 12 is looking like the best contender. I'll have to get him to a bike shop and have a go. It would need some mods though; namely a rear brake as well as the coaster!
