Sure did they not rally them for years before they could get 200 blocks. At the end of the day they are all made of iron and even a 200 can break sometimes with even less poke than some 205's have. I think every block is different and unless you get it x-rayed you will never know what is going to happen it.

Key thing is weather you run it on a 4x4 or 2wd. I'd personally run up to 500 on a 2wd ROAD car. The older the block the more "seasoned" it becomes as well, think boosted BMW F1 cars from back in the day. You'll always hear stories for and against so this is just IMHO.

Remember the 200 block was stronger due to the grip from the 4x4 setup causing block flex, in a 2wd you dont get this so much as you are likely to get wheelspin first.

Spot on imo, the extra stress of the front diff trying to twist the block wont do it any favours. Richie has ran his at 400bhp 4x4 on a 205 block for 3-4years though.

Mine was Dyno'd at 455bhp[430bhp imo] and has last over 3 years, something else broke before the block did.

I can beat that mine had a new engine under warranty in 1988 it was 2 weeks old and standard no3 cylinder wall had cracked too.
I got 3 miles down the road and had to take it back as the new engine needed a new head as it was pourus and spraying oil onto the turbo
so a 205 block has to be good for at least 500 bhp roflol

common problem when they were new and in production
what you will find is that most of the week dodgy blocks have all cracked and been binned so the ones that are left must have been the good ones lol
