  • Gearbox noise

I've got what sounds like a light metallic rattle coming from the car when off throttle around 2-2.5k revs in any gear.If you dip the clutch it goes instantly and its worse going downhill and off throttle.Anyone had the same?

I would say release bearing. If it only happens when clutch pedal is OFF the floor and don't happen when clutch pedal is down I would say its the bearing. What about when the car is stationary?

I would say transfer chain then, but maybe wrong.

Old thread, but developed similar symptoms T5 box just rebuilt thoughout by KN Transmissions and done less than 100 miles on new clutch too. Started car up for the first time in a while and it rattles in neutral in the bell housing, but with the clutch down its sweet as a nut. Makes me think release bearing.

Its new, but wondering if anyone has tried wd40 sparingly on the shaft while its in situ?
