  • VIN Number

    Identity
You’ll find the VIN numbers on the slam panel and stamped into the floor by the
driver’s seat underneath the sill flap. What you’ll want to see is WFOBBXGKABNG,
which is followed by five numbers.

If the VIN i have here is different to this - does this mean it is not an original Escort Cosworth!?

It depends, what does yours start with? Not SABTVRO is it by any chance?

its either a reshell if nothing there in the usual place,a rung car with a iffy id no welded in,or a motorsport shell if its not got the wfobbollocks in the floorpan on a rhd or the passenger floorpan on a left hooker ( in the same place rhd and lhd).
i have seen so many cozzehs with tampered with id's over the years,i would rather leave it than buy one to be honest

          Hi,

Is this Iain from RSOC forum, I think you contacted me recently re my old for sale thread?

TBH I think you need to look into this one just to make sure, as it's a lot of lolly if not as you think.

Radman / Paul, (it is Iain from RSOC!)
WFOBXXGKAB is what I have got - I wont reveal the 5 digit number on here...

However, Digit 5 & 11: Model variant: BB - Saloon 3 door . BF - Sierra 4 door saloon. AM - Escort Cosworth.

Ok, Im happy that the VIN is correct except for the above which shows it as BB (Saloon 3 door)
                - should this not be AM - Escort Cosworth!?
