Just been digging through the paper work and its last one was N961WTT but i think its first was 2397DG. Can they be registered on a private plate from new and if so then i guess i have no original plate to put it back on even if i wanted to.

Yes a car can be registered on a private plate from new, then when removed they'll have just assigned an age related plate... I'd definetely be leaving the FMC plate on as its known on that plate, and imo wouldnt stand out as much if it went back on the WTT number
