  • Fiesta Turbo running fault - friend needs help please

    Hello Gents

I know some people on here have owned fiesta turbos in their past and that this site contains some very knowledgeable people so im seeking help on behalf of a friend whose at his wits end with a fault with a black 1992 EEC V Ecu'd car......

It keeps cutting out whilst driving along, he can be underload or just pottering about. The car has had a lot of modifications and has recently been setup but we dont believe the setup is affecting this problem. All of the alarm and Immobiliser wiring has been removed incase this is the problem

Modifications are as follows incase somebody feels these may be affecting it...

Uprated Injectors ( he believes these are beige or orange in colour )
    T3 Turbo with a T4 compressor housing
    Superchip
    1.3bar boost
Fuel pressure reg turned down by setup company

Id love to help him get to the bottom of this problem as its ruining his enjoyment of what is a very quick car.

Car is in Northampton and a company in that location set it up for him recently on the rollers but they were unable to locate the problem and typically enough it didnt do it when they had it! Im not sure if these cars have diagnostic ports like ours to check fault codes to be honest?

Any help massively appreciated guys...Fraser, Paul etc who im sure will have had more than a few turbo/wiring issues!

    Thanks
    Mart

Mine used to cut out like that, turned out some dick had wired a fuel cut off switch into the inertia switch!

Other cutting out issues were wiring related, fuel pump wiring from memory.

Does it start straight back up after? Does it just stop dead no sort of hesitation/no power then switches off?

                  Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies so far, in answer to some questions, not sure on the pump thats in ther but i can find that out if it may have relevance.

When its stalled, if the key is turned back one mark and then started again it sort of bumps itself and starts again.

If anybody thinks they can fix this and make themselves a few £ the car can be transported to them for diagnosis quite easily as long as i have a bit of notice.

Many thanks guys so far, thats why i love this site!

Had this exact same problem. Simple things first and all that - unplug the superchip and clean the terminals with some surgical spirit on both the ECU and chip. Then try it again.
