there was an interesting thread on PF about this ebay engine and the costs around developing such a product.

One of the mods from this site has some input on this

Very diplomatically put - you feeling okay? No pithy remarks or sarcastic comments? .

Yes, my engine builder could build the EXACT same engine as the ebay one for £10k less - and that is from the horses mouth .

In fact he has been tasked with putting right an RS200 engine that came from JGs and he is extremely surprised at some of the mis-matched build spec.

Tiz the season and all that

I thought for the most part the tread went well, then it turned into the usual tuner wars.

One of the engine builders for JG has been rebuilding a mates engine for his Saph, and some of the things he has been suggesting to be done is really odd for a 350bhp engine.
Pushing him to go for roller bearing T38's, BD14's, silly ported heads etc.

All he wanted was an engine freshen upend a set of greens on a T3 or T34.48 at most

Maybe he's getting 350 bhp from 3k all the way to 7k

I have trouble justifying it sitting in the garage as it is, without having ploughed another 15k into the engine and drivetrain. Some lovely high powered cars out there, I just couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of cash.

i didn't watch the rallycross this season but last seasons european rallycross championship winning donkey was owned by surprise surprise a Norsk Norwegian who had a Godfrey donkey in the car.

that tells me theres no one capeable of building the big hp cosworths over there anymore,in the good old days a top spec rallycross yb did practice and needed only a headgasket, the first heat and only a new turbo and if really lucky the finals without blowing up but last a season ??????????????? HaHa not on your moose
