  • Tech Question - best power/torque on a Std geometry YB?

As the title, what would be the best possible power/torque for a standard geometry YB vs sensible costs?

The engine would use a std long studded 200 block, no liners, Std length con rods, std crank & a std head, but ported to whatever required, and any cams. Pistons would be std mahles with valve cut outs and required CR.

Basically best power/torque for a reasonable cost bolting bits on to the outside?

Just intersted to see what the general opinion is, and if it's worth going down the longer rod/ raised gudgeon pin route?

Will I think the engine in this thread has standard dimension internals and has output some pretty impressive numbers (fettled head though):

You would never achieve that level of power and response with just bolt on "off the shelf" items.

True, depends on the budget I guess and what Will classes as reasonable cost.

Anything on the outside of the engine goes really, I'm just wondering what the best power/torque you could achive is using the standard engine framework if that makes sense? As obviously once you are into stroked cranks, Nikasil liners etc you are into mental money

See Gaz's engine for the best 500bhp road engine I have seen so far. Is standard crank and rods AFAIAA . You won't get a better power / response compromise from a standard capacity engine.......

id be interested to see what power you would make if you bought a standard yb, wacked a wrc gasket on standard headbolts, ab07 inlet cam, double valve springa and say a gtx3071... with all the injectors and stuff done... would 480bhp+ be achiveable?

whats the most youve seen on standard head ports? the bloke at totd swears blind 450bhp is achiveable on a standard head with standard cams on t4 turbo

Maybe, but just ramming the air in there isn't the best way, cylinder pressures are high, it won't want to hold power higher in the rev range, it's worth doing properly IMO, for the sake of a few hundred pound on a few thousand pound build

Depends how far you need/want to go, new guides? Platforms dropped for Iskys springs? Then the head/ports would be specced around power/revs there is a lot to take into account

Depends who you go to aswell, we will only use nick waples as he is the best around
