no never done it, but not a bad idea as the boot lids do go under the lower rear spoiler as the water gets trapped there

The lower spoiler rubs on the tailgate over time leading to issues. You can normally see this starting on the corners on each edge of the tailgate.

shouldnt there be a thin foam strip on te spolier to stop it rubbing?

I did it twice, and had surface rust under the lower spoiler on both cars. Nothing major though.

Yeah but over time it rubs through that too.
