  • Where to bend pick up pipe?

I'm trying to fit my 2wd sump, but it's not quite touching up to the block. I'm assuming this is cause the 4x4 oil pump/pick up pipe as I was told it needs bending, but I don't wanna bend it the wrong way

Does it bend towards the fly wheel, drivers or passenger side of the car?

I've tried, but it's not sitting flush and I don't fancy putting it on and tightening it on to fook the threads or for it not to tighten up properly and fook the gasket

I haven't got very far on this recently due to shit health, but I wanna crack on in the next week or 2 and get the car back together. Any ideas where I need to bend the pick up or shall I just get an updated 2wd oil pump and a 2wd pick up as I don't have time to fuck about working out where to bend this

Suggestions/pics/or help where to bend the pick up please

Where the pickup pipe comes out of the pump you have a support bracket and thats where it will touch first so heat the bracket up with a blow torch and tap it with a dead blow hammer or rubber mallet not a metal hammer as you dont want to crack or dent the pipe. If you find it still needs some more then do the same on the other support bracket and it will fit fine after this. Just make sure you dont go to far and also check the spray bars clear the crank before bolting the sump down.
Did mine about 2 weeks ago and only took about 5 minutes before sump fitted perfectly.

it will be the little bent out drains on the windage plate thats fowling mate, tap them in, also theres a lump of metal that sticks up in the 2wd sump thats needs to be grinded out, its the guide just inside where the turbo drain is that guides the oil back to the well... give me call if you wanna chat about it mate 07833675329
