  • Fuel gauge problem....

My fuel gauge is reading nearly full and my petrol light is on.
I know it's low on fuel so i think the light is correct and the needle is wrong.
The gauge sometimes drops down to empty then it's back to full again the next time I look.
Will it be the sender unit or that gauge itself?
My temp gauge is reading high and I know it's had new speedo clock fitted before,
    are faulty gauge's common?
Or will it be my Sender unit in the tank?

I would imagine some tracks in the sender have burned out . New sender time - right ballache (cost, finding one and fitting )!

Nordschleife, there's only two barriers to worry about - the ones on the left and the ones on the right .

Could be a bad earth causing the gauge or light to play up, but as above more than likely what Mike said.

From my experience i'd go with what Mike says. On the sender unit when the float rises it moves a pointer along a series of contacters which over time wear down giving false readings. I had a job sourcing one for mine. Best of luck lad!
