    Tiles what do you mean Craig, are you talking ones of the ceramic variety for the floor?

      QUOTE=Sunnysidebb;290415]Craig,
      If you intend to use the Garage for plenty of DIY I wouldn't recommend any form of Tiles.
      Ceramic Tiles will crack if you drop anything on them and may crack as the trolley Jack roles over them Also if you move the car about on the Jack the wheels of the jack being small will get stuck in the Tile joints.

      Vinyl Tiles are less susceptible to damage but may lift if you get then wet. And will still rip and scratch if you drag anything heavy over them.
      The best floor is a painted smooth concrete floor.

      Lay your concrete not too wet and Tamp down once. Do not keep tamping as this brings the water and sand to the surface ant the floor will forever be soft. once Tamped , trowel flat but again dont keep going over and over the same place to get perfection as it will again bring water and sand to the surface. once you do that you will be painting the floor for ever and a day as the paint wont stick for long on the sandy floor. ( I made that mistake in my small workshop back down in Ellesmere port 20 years ago. I was forever painting patches on the floor.)
      Once fully hardened and the concrete is no longer "Green" paint the floor with a good Concrete floor paint. You can buy workshop floor paint and its very hard wearing.
      Hope that helps a little.

              The plastic tiles are real easy to lay Craig but depending on the size of your garage can be exspensive , I was about £400 to do mine. Ive had no problems using jacks and axle stands on them , but they are a nightmare to keep clean if you use the garage for working on cars.

                My best mate was banging on about that karndean stuff the other week (he's a carpet fitter). Was going to have that in our bathroom but opted for real slate tiles.

                Got the ronseal stuff on my garage floor, seems okay for now.

                    i just got carpet tiles lol my mate offered to tile my garage floor for me, but as mentioned, if it carcks its a pain to repair, and if you spill something and slip over its gona hurt

                    at least with carpet tiles its not cold on your back and absorbs all sorts even weld sparks!!!!

                          Stong thick tiles and perfect for the garage floor
