  • what diff

i need to get some ideas on diffs for the escos

now i was planning on the mustang 8.8 irs but as im a year behind with the car i want to get it running, so im thinking of just going 2wd diff at the mo but what internals would people recommend quaife/gripper etc?

the car will be running a skyline gearbox so will mostly be rwd but will also have hard launches aswell with a 10 inch wheel on the back with 265 tyres so need a diff to cope with the extra grip power wise will be close to 500bhp if not more

a 7.5inch with a quaiffe will take the power but not the launchs i doubt

you need a morgage for one of them if you can find one

As you know rich, im getting a 8.8 but with it being on back order for the time being ive welded a 4x4 diff up and just going to get it mapped and on the road with that for now

a welded 4x4 diff will be much better than you expect i ran a standard 4x4 for about 3months then a planet gear got upset lol

a 7.5 will let go straight away with launching 500 hp
I went out one evening to test the car and broke it 500 yards down the road

Came back and swapped it for an uprated one had done, went out again 2 hours later and broke it on exactly the same bit of road

Plannetry gears just shit them selves at that power, so no launches!!

If you are running 4x4 you will possibly be OK ??

I'll be running a Titan plated 7.5 inch

It will one take me (hopefully) taking 500bhp and 450lbft so hope it can handle my launches!

the car will be either as its switchable, but im fuker for launches, like almost hit limiter and drop the clutch lol, onviously in the sierra it wheel spins which helps, but i dont think the escort will spin much before it gets traction

im just looking at other solutions, 9 inch is out of the question due tocosts where the mustang will do the same but fraction of the cost, as ill be comming up to the rear beam on the car very soon hence asking the question now
