  • Help!!! Vibration when on boost!!!!!...........Still Shaking!!!

Hi there, any one who can give some advice?

Basically over the past few times i have used the cos its gettin a worse vibration, i've had all the wheels balanced, checked the discs with a DTI and had a general look over all the drive and prop shafts.

It only seems to be when hard accelerating though in higher rpm. Its gettin worse everytime i drive it as well but cant think what it can be.

I've also jacked up the engine but the car went with it so i guess its not engine mounts either!!

27/4/11 - All the driveshafts have been off and are all perfect, 2 new engine mounts, and front Prop has also been off and been checked over but nothing needed to be sorted, it was all well.

Only thing I have noticed is there seems to be a little bit of play in the mid support for the rear prop, and maybe I should change the gearbox mount as well.

    Cheers

Thats a thought, might be worth putting some different alloys on just to check.
But that would do it all the time wouldnt it, it doesnt vibrate at any speed as long as im not accelerating, its smooth off the boost

How can i tell if the driveshafts are fooked, i've had each corner up and there is hardly no movement on any of the shafts, the rear have some in and out but not side to side

Where are you feeling the vibration from , throught the steering or the seat.
Could the exhaust be hitting the prop or floor under acceleration.

its coming from the car not through steering wheel or pedals, there is a very very small gap between the front prop and exhaust but no evidence of them touching, maybe the floor pan though!!

i would check the prop is lined up nice and straight with the standard fixings and washers extra also the prop dounut..

chech the gearbox mount for metal on metal contact

i have had tyres that have worn the insides that shake like fook at say 65-75 but above and below are fine,it could be a d/s or somthing simple like get the wheels balanced and go from there boyo !

all looks good mate, the n/s engine mount looks a little worse for wear compared to the o/s but still alright

i had a problem that sounds similar, i found the nearside engine mount under the inlet manifold had seperated i two. When the engine hit boost it twisted an lifted causing transmittion vibration, and the a/c pully to cut into the coolant hose it was ok off boost, worth checking

Now thats the one that from underneath the car looks a little cracked compared to the o/s, still flexable though.

Did you uprate them or use standard ones?

i had same problem fella, endid up being o/s engine mount was fooked and caused the outer cv joint to balls up aswell, changed my mounts to collins ones and ggr shafts all good since.
