Done a few jobs on the coz today and will be going back together tomorrow, where does the dizzy pulley line up to, i can see the arrow on the pulley but there doesnt seem to be anything to line it up with
Pop the dizzy cap off. You'll see a mark/notch on the rim of the dizzy. The rotor is supposed to point against this when engine is at tdc.
This is the easiest way imo as you can undo the bolt that holds the dizzy if you're a bit out and just turn it until it lines up if you've already got the belt on.

Ah feck I was too late
LOL, headwork, i think everything that could of gone wrong did go wrong
TDC is still when the cam pulleys line up and crank is lined up with engine mark yeah????
I always thought that the you line the mark up before you put in the distributor? then when you install the distributor it will turn on the drive cog.
This may well be the problem i have with the car my mate has.
It doesn't matter too much how you do it since you can adjust the whole distributor afterwards.
The housing and the rotor turns independently when you loosen the 13mm bolt that holds the housing.
So if you can't get it 100% with the pulley you can fine tune it.
You can put the distributor in 180degrees out of phase if you'd want to.
The mark in the distributor is all you really need to worry about.
what do the 2 lobes on the distributor shaft to phase sensor do? I have an issue that sounds like it wants to fire but seems to be advanced, had the plugs out and all fire ok when resting on the cam cover.
