Small Turbo T25 or T28??

Hi all,

I was enquiring about getting an upgraded turbo for my escos and am wondering if the small turbo has a T25 as standard. I emailed for a quotation to turborebuild.co.uk last night and they told me that T28 was stanard???

I always thought the ST Cosworths came with T25 turbochargers as standard...

They do Paul. I've heard people talking about the T25 and T28 on small turbo'ed cars. I wonder if they're actually the same thing.

Ya that's what I thought as well but the that emailed me back was fairly sure 28 was standard?

I thought it was T25 standard, mine came with paperwork for a Hybrid T28 so think it's aftermarket.

T25 was standard fit.

So T25 is standard so can a t 28 b just bolted on with no other mods?for those of you who have upgraded would you notice a big improvement with it?

There are different T28's though - some just have an uprated bearing, others have a different compressor housing.

Mike R did a post on the differences but I can't find it - he also listed the best one to go for (think it was one with a Nissan Sunny GTir housing on it). Drop him a pm.

Thanks ill ask him and see what he says which is best to use. I may as well upgrade if I'm changing it.
