General Question - P8 pectel boards functions

Can anyone help with regards to what Pectel boards and their features are used on a Weber P8 ecu please?

I know there is one for 12 position boost control and coilpack/wasted spark and closed loop lambda control.

Another is the anti lag board then theres a super 8 board.Can someone just confirm which board has what functions please.

Finally if u have a pectel board that has the coilpack/wasted spark feature,how does it then work if you are running a cap and rotor arm?I know the MSD wasted spark is totally different but wil I need some of the parts like coilpack,twin ignition amp,leads etc?

IIRC, the P8 can drive a coilpack without any hardware mods anyway. the pectel board is only 1 way of enabling it via software. the msd wated spark kit doubles up on this hardware , but also includes a driver for the std rev counter.

I'm interested in this to cos really considering selling my L8 and going p8 as with the price of fuel thinkin of going closed loop and wasted spark just if I bought all the kits off msd might as well just convert to P8

all the pectel board is to anables the ecu to have more memory to add funtions like anti lag air injectors and launch control there are driver in a p8 for coil pack without the pectel boardthey are gettin scarce these day as i know for a fact that gary at [ pectel ] cosworth, has hasnt got software for the boards anymore

The four injector Pectel P8 boards can run WI, wasted spark, 12 position boost pot OR ALS.

The eight injector P8 boards can run WI, wasted spark, 12 position boost pot AND ALS.

Note that some early four injector boards do not support ALS.

Runnng wasted spark or standard coil is just a matter of selecting one or the other in the software.

You will need all same hardware parts as with the MSD stuff (leads, coilpack, second ignition amplifier).

Is this sofware activating beeing done on a chip, or the board itself? I have one p8 whit pectel board and GGR chip and one p8 without board

Thats what I wanted to know - can you use your exsisting chip, and put a pectel board in with that, or do you need new ones on both accounts?

The chip has to be one that is suitable for the board.
