van insurance?? any body recommend!!

as title my van insurance is due and the premium has rocketed for some strange reason, i insure as commercial use but also use as my main drive?? am i covered with just commercial??
the policy has risen by £250 no change to any details or circumstances what the f**k is going on? this country is going nuts, recession! no work! no Money but they raise things like its nothing??
does any body know if need to insure do commercials??
might just go on the dole! might get treated a bit better by this mental government?

Rickado when you get a quote do yer fib and say much less ?? thats what you have to do and thats what i do and i save money on insurance,i always reccommend the coop as they can be cheep but are fussy about paying out. Swintons are not bad for commercials too

i used to do van and driver or removals years ago and it was a nice little earner,stick a ad in yer local free ads and do a bit of moonlighting. I used to shift new furniture for a few companys,i also moved battered women and there stuff around who were in hostels awaiting new homes around the country.
I also used to roady for a pop group who needed a driver and a bit of muscle incase things got too heavy and it was easy money,if yer vans only small try couriering or somthing like that on the side also

cheers for that mate, i do only tell them what i have to and i have full no claims no convictions etc etc etc im also pretty old and they are asking £850 renewal i really dont understand, i only paid £1300 when i was 17 on a reno 5 gt turbo, i thought as you get more ncb you were looked after but obviously not, ive seen people on police shows that drive uninsured and come away with £500 fines if they get caught:dunn

i should say i never muck about saying its garaged when its not etc but when it comes to quotes you always get shafted so its nice to get a good deal.

Tbh matey it worrys me when a grafter like you worrys about work because its lads like you that buy the 2.5 to 5 year old vans off me. If you lads are not grafting you stop buying vans and that isn't what i want to hear

Work is slowly picking up but it will take a long time to recover? Sparkys are very common and when work drys there not enough for us all ? I'm looking at other things but I've been a sparky 16 years and 7 of those for my self but needs must until work becomes more frequent again, it seems very hit and miss at the moment

a mate of mine does power jet washing you know like patios block paving and roofs etc and what he does is get leaflets knocked up and delivers them. Say he gets 1000 leaflets or gets on the computer and knocks up 4 ads that can be printed off on a single sheet of a4 and then gets somewhere big to run them off cheap and then cuts them up his self and then delivers them, its a good earner when the jobs come in.
the 1st time he did it he got some fancy leaflets that cost 150 quid and got a couple of grands work in so now every summer combines the valeting with jet washing.
he also asked the postman if he fancied helping him deliver the leaflets and the posty did the bizzo for 20 quid
i think its better to do somthing rather than sit there feeling glum and you never know the jobs could come rolling in

thats seems a lot mate i've got my 07 transit insured with swinton using highway commercial and it was £340 fully comp, i've got full no claims, clean licence and am very old at 45 so maybe that helps

I once got quoted £1300 third party fire and theft to insure a F reg 1.8 Audi 80, the car was only worth 300 quid

Rickardo,i think sign writing is the best thing since sliced bread as your van and tools are harder to rob when yer name and phone number are plastered all over it.
i used to buy proper vans from the likes of John Kennedy Daniel and Murphy etc etc the sort of vans that have loads of expensive tools and generators inside and them vans had the reg in huge letters on the roofs so a police helicopter could see them from up above
