Looking at my tyres i think they are approaching their 2mm end of life

They are Goodyear Eagle F1's in 245/35 18's

These seem to be very much a favourite for the Escort Cosworth as i see many cars on them and that's been the case for a long time.

So i'm thinking i might go with them again as i've been very happy with them and despite being a softish compound they have lasted really well

But, did i read somewhere there is a far east manufactured version that is to be avoided

Or, is there anything else that is worth consideration ?

how many miles roughly have they done?

as you say a lot have them on, but its the price of them that puts me off them

Eagle f1s, I used to have them on mine jules, I have since replaced them with Continental Sport Contacts and I prefer them greatly.

They're 225/40 18. What width rims are you on?

And if your f1s are german, happy days.

        Chinese, rubbish.

The compounds are supposed to be different.

In what ways are you preffering the Conti's

My wheels are 8x18's.......... toying with the idea of going wider at some point but not really a priority as i don't really have an issue with the 8's

I don't know why people even bother with the F1's, mine had a set on when I bought the car over five years ago. I've since bought a set of Michilen Pilot Sport 2's and they are a far better tyre.

Not sure on the miles as were on the car when i bought it............. which has been a while and many miles now so they've lasted well

Been consistent and predictable too when either hot or cold.......... only just now at the end of their life starting to notice a slight change in that the car feels a bit floaty in long sweeping corners

You get what you pay for , conti's and michilen's are more money then F1's.

I find it a difficult decision really and opted to stick with the toyo's, great pushing them and in the dry and wet, and lasted around 12k and at nearly half the price I couldn't say no

I have had F1's for years and been happy with them especially in the wet, we have Continental sport contact 3's on the ST Focus and not as happy.
maybe it's the FWD what has no grip.

Been quoted £768 for four F1's in my size so not exactly chirpy chirpy cheap cheap

........ and they don't seem that easy to come by either so may consider something else
