  • The RSOC

Mike has a thread about selling his car or not and a couple of posts got me thinking about prices etc, i would just like to hear different opinions on what effect do you think not having the RSOC would have on all RS marques .... and it would be good to hear everyone's opinion, so come on lurkers as Delia Smith would say "wher are ya , let's be avin ya"

Why would we all pay daft money for old fords if we had no club / shows to go to etc

what do you think keeps the values of the RS so high ?

How much do you think the top spec golf clubs would be worth if there were no golf courses

i find it hard to believe that the rsoc keep the values up on these cars

i would thought as there rare that why value is so good on them and your telling me that the club dont make a killing out the money they get from the shows plus what does the club give back to it members

I don't think it would have much effect if it went.People would still be into the cars without it and still organize shows and meets. The demand for the cars would still exist and the prices would stay strong.

How would you sort shows etc , who would pay the insurance etc required to have these shows ? how would you generate intrest ?

Im interested in the marquee, i'd buy another Escos if i could. If i had the money i'd buy a few RS's. I'm not, nor do i intend to become a member of the RSOC. So the existence of an RSOC would make no difference to the reasons why i want to own an RS.

Spot on Paul in my eyes as what would be the point of having concourse car if you have no show to show it at ? And no show scene means less interest which in turn means prices go down as the following and demand will decrease

I don't think the club alone keeps the prices good but it is one of the biggest factors. Having a good club and shows can only get more people interested in the cars. Long live the RSOC.

The RSOC is not the place it used to be. Too many people spit the dummy and stamp their feet when people don't agree with them, very cliquey and over moderated.

Does it help the value of our cars?? Time will tell.

By the way ... yes i am a RSOC member and I hope to see some changes.

is it not supply and demand that affect the price of the RS badge not the club

Think you need the RSOC as a lot of shows, regional days are organised through them and I enjoy going down to see the boys at our local Bristol group. Think the main rsoc seems to have got stuck up there own ass and far to political, need to turn the clock back to having fun in our cars and not bullshitPrices stay high because of the show seen etc. Might have been tempted to the dark side with an Evo but the ford seen seams better so that's where I'm staying

Been a member ever since I bought my first RS and wouldn't not be a member, and I do agree with what Paul says, the RSOC is the origin of the shows and track days and without it the demand for RS cars (pre mk2 focus Rs IMO) wouldn't be what it is.

Why would some one spend £30k on a RS500 to park it up in there garage and never ever use it or go to a show is beyond me, the RS shows bring them people out!

The RSOC is important yes, value for money every year....well thats debatable.

I was speaking to somebody very senior in the club a good while back and he said to me that if ford hadnt built the Mk2 FRS then the club may not have survived.

Its such a shame that ford do not actively support or promote the rsoc in dealerships or financially in an open manner, after all they do need each other.

I personally know that if i ever had to sell my car, theres no way it would be going cheaply but when times are hard and money is needed people do whatever is neccessary to keep going.

How many RSOC members joined just for cheap insurance? 98%?
