standard intercooler bhp

Hi Guys what bhp can I get out of a standard intercooler, with low compression pistons.

I am not sure of the power limit but I once had a measured 420 bhp on a standard cooler with a cold water conversion kit.

I'm sure Karl Norris has had 500bhp out of one, but the price of a 500 cooler why would you want to?

above stage 3 you need one really about 350-400hp

ages ago, I had a saph around the 300 mark, with standard intercooler in warm weather it would get boost cut at 9 to 10psi. I fitted a forge rs500 type one and the problem went, it boosted back to its normal 24psi in all conditions. I know the escort cooler is different, but i would have thought it would be starting to struggle above 350bhp?
