Tech Question - does both the standard CD and TAPE player need to work together

i,ve came in to a problem with my escort when trying to get a set of stereos

my car came with what i think is the early type system and wiring ?

the same style as dunc had advertised below


i thought the 2 stereos in my car were knackered and ginners of here kindly gave me a tape player which i went to fit today but noticed its a different plug at the back to link the 2

had also bought 2 cd players of ebay and noticed they also have a diffent plug set up

so i take it theres 2 different wiring looms for these , is there ?

i have now figured out that my original old style cd unit actually works but the tape deck does,nt

so my question is can i just link the all up and will the cd player work as the tape does,nt ?(as need something to listen to going to national day and back)

or will i need to find a working stereo like the one below for any to work ?


next question if so does anybody have a tape deck same as that for sale ?
