  • small turbo engine bits i need?

im not sure what i need now to finish off the wiring for the small turbo cosworth engine, i have the main loom that connects to the inlet, injectors and coilpacks etc, but now coming off that loom is 2 plugs this loom isnt as simple as a 2wd sierra cosworth one from what i see? otherwise im guessing this would be alot easier

what i dont know is what plugs into them 2 plugs?
what wiring i need for the alternator?
does the alternator wiring plug into the main engine loom on the inlet?
can i use a sierra cosworth fan loom and feul pump loom?
what feul pump should i be using?
and what injectors can i use?
and if im missing out any other wiring to the ecu etc that i dont know about?
    also ignition amp wiring?

any chance anyone has piks of the parts i need and where the wiring goes on an escort cosworth small turbo as it would be a big help?

    cheers nick

the rest of the engine loom is built into the escos main car loom its not seperate like sierras

for small turbo if you are running a small turbo ecu you need a lot of stuff including the edis 4 module which controls the coil packs

personally if you havnt got this loom, just et a level 8 ecu, sierra engine loom and run big turbo stuff, cheaper and easier, alternator main live goes direct from alternator to battery, blue wire goes from alternator straight to clock pad

small turbos dont run ignition amps, they use different inejctors to big turbo and also run different spark plugs

heres where im at with the loom all i have is basically the engine loom, and id imagine getting hold of the rest of small trubo loom wont be an easy find, so ive looked more into what else i can use, im using an escort cosworth crank pulley atm with the wider belt on my pinto engine and want to keep that setup as i hate the v belt so im guessing ill need a p8 ecu now and hopefully a 2wd engine loom will plug into a p8?

and then i can go about my wiring loom that way?

otherwise im stuffed unless i can get hold of a small turbo complete wiring loom, didnt realise it was that involved with the small turbo wiring

and escort cosworth engine loom is built into the main car loom, you cannot just take it out and hard wire it in

that loom you have take off and bin, get a 4wd sierra coosworth these are seperate and its only 6 wires

          what you will need is

4 lug pulley off a late 4wd to keep the ribbed belt set up
          crank sensor
charge air temp sensors needs to be in the inlet
          water temp sensor for ecu
dizzy unless going coil pack conversion in ecu
          injectors
          map sensor
          throttlebody

this will give you all the stuff to go big turbo on small turbo engine, i dont see the point in trying to wire up the ford management its pointless

on the loom you will need to extend the water temp gauge wire and the water temp ecu wire everything else will be fine

its the easiest, cheapest and best route to take

I may be able to help. I have most of a loom and a brand new EEC4 ECU with piggy back chip if you want to go that way.

ok ill give up with the small turbo idea then seems like itll be too expensive complicated and a waste of money, ive got a 36-1 crank pulley fitted atm, i know this might be a silly question but will that not run on the l8 ecu? or do i definately have to change to the 4 lug one?

thanks for the offer mate but i think ill go with the easy route being that this is my first cosworth build

is this ideal for the l8ecu im going to use?

or should i just get a standard 4x4 loom? like the one for sale here

what ever loom you want to go for

tbh the after market loom would be better and that price is a very good price, but if its has wasted spark built into it you will need a baord for the ecu, plus coil pack and twin ignition amps aswell
