Don't mean to resurrect an old thread but I am a new member from the US. I really want to sell my 2011 Mustang 5.0 and somehow get a LHD Escort Cosworth RS into this country. I have always wanted one from the time I had two Escort GT's. Now is the time to make it happen.
yes wesley p and chad aka zombie are from the good old usa, theres another fella from alaska who i unfortunately can't remember his moniker right now.
wesley p has just imported a 1996 escort coz into i think canada 1st then the usa,i think it needs to be a airbag model only though although in canada anything goes so can you import a older non airbag big turbo car into canada 1st them the us i dunno but zombie and wesley are the best people to ask BG.
PS welcome in and if you need to know where to find a few airbag model left hand drive cars for sale i know people..............
Where can you get a LHD model? I fancy one as a run about and I can also take it back to Spain with me?

mobile.de or autoscout24.com but the boat has set sail on values at the lower end these days, your looking at around 13000 euros for a cheepy one and it could be a right pile of shizen
Me again. I need some suggestions. I am looking for a car broker in Europe. Someone I can trust who will take down my needs and wants in a car and then hunt it down. I can wire the money over plus a modest fee. The broker then arranges transport and loads up the car. This service must exist. I just can't find it!
I live in the USA and I'm a mechanic at a Ford dealership. I'm in love with the Escort Cosworth. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to get a Cossie over here in the states? There are a few around here. I've seen ones for sale but unfortunately the ads were a couple of years old. But that means there must be a way of getting them over here. Any ideas? Links? Input?
Hi Welcome
Hi have shipped a couple of dodge challengers from America using Schumacher cargologistics, they collect the cars from purchase point in USA , and I collect from the uk.
They can also collect from uk and take to the USA
I have been offered a job in Canada, and thinking of taking my Escos with me, the guy you need to speak to is joey smit on 00 1 (562) 370-8257

That seems like a very nice service and I will contact them. However that leaves me with still having to find a car, buy it, and take possession of it without being in Europe. I need a car buying service in Europe who can find me a desirable Cossie and make the purchase for me and hand it off to the shipping company.

I don't know if such a service is available and I don't think I would trust anyone else buying an Escos for me
As people's idea of a mint original car differs from other peoples idea
That said
If one comes up in the Nottingham area, I would be glad to look at it for you
There was a left hand drive car on the autotrader, a 40 thousand mile car

what kind of price tag should I expect? You know, for a decent car...25k-35k? USD
How bad is rust in the UK? You guys don't put salt on your roads in the winter, right?

rust can be bad and yep, we apply salt in the winter which doesn't help.
To be fair, you could find a car that has never seen a winter road that is still rusty as the titanic, if its been stood in a damp or humid environment. Doesn't help that the sunroof drains go into the sills
as my man Icecube once said,Check Yo Self befo u riggedy Wreck Yo Self !!!!!
Sorry, can't quote the links because of the 5 post restriction
Theres all sorts of gems driving around Maryland on historic tags if you get me.......
I don't see the biggest problem as being the registration part of it. The biggest problem is getting it off the boat once it arrives. US Customs makes sure that certain DOT stickers and such (EPA) are on the car before it's released to you. Which is why I am looking into having the car shipped to Canada, which has a 15 year restriction. I will take plates to Canada with me, get the car, put the plates on and drive across the boarder.
I have an old US Escort that will serve as a device to register the Cossie. Even if I get pulled over by a cop he is going to pull up my plates and see it's an old Escort. The chances of the officer knowing that my car is something other than a modified US Escort are low. Then, when the 25 year thing is up, I can register it properly.
I can approach the Federal Government looking for a historical exception but if over 500 of your vehicle were made, you have to make a very convincing case which, from what I hear, is impossible.

Which is why I am thinking I am better off trying to find a LHD Cossie on mainland Europe since there will be more LHD cars and if I stick to southern Europe, I should be able to get a car with less rust than the UK?
