  • RWD Escort Cosworth? Does RWD affect the price of the car?

Guys, would a converted RWD Escort RS Cosworth affect the price of the car?
And do they handle as well without the Extra two wheels putting power down around the corners etc? How does it effect the balance of the car?

    thanks

by loads? It would be something I prefer if I am honest... and I have just checked, a 4x4 gearbox can be had for under £300? would just need a front diff and prop to connect it all?

So say around £1000 in parts max and it would be back to 4x4? would the car need to be £1000 cheaper than a normal 4x4 to be priced right?

You would find it hard to sell tbh. Once you fook about with the ESCOS it ain't a pukka ESCOS in my mind. Its a bastardized mongrel. Not getting into performance arguments just ethics.

OK I can see that which is a fair point... But if I was to put all the 4x4 kit back on her then it would be rosey again?

Do they have to change much to make them 2wd? or would it be just a straight swop of parts to get it back to 4x4?

It's a simple conversion I'm selling my rwd escos at the moment and am offering the 4x4 stuff with the car if they wanted to convert back to

I would do the same i'll put all the 4x4 bits in the boot of mine if I sold it so someone has the choice as for the Comment about it being played with is utter rubbish, everyone who has a escos has worked on it them selves with little experience. So are they all ruined and unsellable? I would rather buy a escos that's had a gearbox swap than one, people have done work on the body work eg carbon roofs and wrc items.

Its not just a gear box swop is it ! As I said power wise not going to argue, we all mod our ESCOS's but there still the 4x4 character Ford gave them. When you do a proper rwd conversion you have change the characteristics of the car beyond belief. For better or worse again is not the argument.
Horses for courses, but in this age of pish second hand car prices and the insurgence of very powerful modern cars, the ESCOS owner for the future is going to be looking for a car that is standard, mint condition and unmolested apart form the usual minor power mods.
If I was in the market for a nice ESCOS I wouldn't be too impressed with a boot full of 4x4 parts to have to go back on. I would buy an car that was as it should be, at least in the drivetrain department.

OK so what if I said it was a cheap car and the only downside is the 2WD, well in some eyes it a downside? and if I put the 4x4 back on it I would easly get my money back on the car?

I must admit, it is a cheaper way to get big power with a bit more reliability without spending big money on gearbox and diffs?

2wd carbon chrome rondells chintzy samcos how much stuff can you whack on a escort cozzeh ?

unless its cheep people don't want finished modified projects so thats why most sellers break them or put back to std to release the money they wasted err coughed up

My personal opinion is they drive so much better and handle better without the extra weight on the front and you dont have to modify any thing if thats the way you want to convert it so that you can put the 4x4 stuff back on before you sell.
