  • Thank you, and goodbye.

Firstly, can I say thank you. You lot are a lovely bunch of people, always ready to help, and abuse, in equal measure (trust me, that's a good thing).

So, my affair with my EsCos is over.

In about a year of ownership of my amazing looking and sounding car, I only 'bonded' with it once. I think I just expected too much out of it, or my exposure to other cars has tainted my expectations. (I can only hope this is true, as the only other cars I have on my 'to do' list are either Italian or Swedish...... and not good for the bank balance! Maybe I can learn from my faults....)

I loved my EsCos, but it did its best to hurt me. So, I've walked away. (Apart from dealers premiums), I've done a straight swap. I wanted something more usable, and reliable.

So why have I got a Clio V6?

So once again people, thank you. You made the experience a lot better.

Good luck in the future with the Clio. Its a shame you haven't got on with the ESCOS but I have learned many years ago ownership is really a labour of love with these cars. when you compare them against modern cars there not all that brilliant tbh. but ownership isn't all about compared performances. With me its the constant need for another, I just love them above all other cars. (4x4 Sapphire comes close 2nd) Compared to my 996tt my last ESCOS was practically a Ferguson Tractor. you cant help how you feel about these cars. I hope you intend to stay on the forum and have a chat form time to time. Let us all know what life with a V6 Clio is like

Slightly agree with your comments on the Escos, which is partly why I only use mine one year in every two otherwise I would sell sooner but then miss it.

Swapping for a Clio , I used to own a V6 and tbh apart from the looks,I was very disappointed with it and I prefer the Escos.

          Enjoy

Well, at least it's another itch to scratch - with no depreciation!

What kind of V6? 1 or 2? I have to say, I'm already loving the gear ratios over the EsCos. Yes, there's no turbo rush, but I'm not waiting for the'will it try to kill me with use of the XXXXX' going through my brain. Last time it chucked a front calliper off...

To be honest, I'm too much of a softie to do that. But to double the money it's worth, I can really understand it.

I totally understand not bonding with your Escort, I'm exactly the same. I thought I would love it and for one reason or another, I don't.

I'm even halfway through a restoration, cos I thought it would help me "get" the Cosworth experience. Now I'm just fed up of having a car in bits lol.

Having said that, the more bits that go back on, I do love the look of it.

Thought I'd maybe got older and fallen out of love with cars until I bought my RS2000 yesterday, then I realised I haven't. It's just about finding what works for you.

                    Good luck with your Clio!

Silly question, but what power was the Escos? They don't really come alive until stage 3 IMHO..
