  • Immobiliser PATS

So after several weeks I still can't get my car to start an run...

A little background; I decided to revert back to the standard management on my ST Escort, when I bought the car it came with an Omex management but I was not happy with the drivability. Anyway I bought and installed all the factory components that goes with the standard management including the ECU. Initially I thought my problem was not having the correct map sensor (hard start and over fueling) but it turns out my problem seems to be the PATS system. When I attempt to start the car and for the few seconds it does run (occasionally), the alarm light flashes. If I am correct my ECU needs to be reprogrammed to match the immobiliser, problem is I'm in the states and the local Ford dealer has no idea what to do nor any of the locksmiths I've contacted.

What are my options? I thought about disabling the system altogether and have the wiring diagram but I not sure what I'm doing and I know how sensitive this type of information is.

    Any ideas...?

Are you sure you have pats and not any other kind of imobilizer? Does your key have a red part on the back? Usual whit cars whit pats, they does`t run at all, and starter will not turn

Steve, how do you tell which ECU has PATS and which doesn't? My car is a late 95 model (Sept. production date).

grcossie, yes it's got PATS each key has the red part/transponder and the black part around the ignition barrel. It does have another immobiliser but that and the factory alarm are both functioning as the starter is disabled/siren/horn triggered when they are both armed. The hardly ever runs, haven't done so in a week of trying so it's not like it starts when I turn the key. I guess when I try often enough the car will start for a moment then stall and wont restart. No injector pulse (pump comes on), but I have spark.

This sucks, looks like I may have to go back to an aftermarket management.

Guys, anyone else got a suggestion? I know there are limited options here but there has got to be something else I can do.
