  • Intercoolers...

How far do people rate an original RS500 intercooler... I picked up a Pro Alloy 70mm core for good money doubt I'd see any gains on it now, but what about beyond 500hp?

See Airtec are testing their 100mm cooler on Ronnie's 3dr too, just wondered how people think the original 500 one would stack up?

Would love a Spec-R but yea very true, can probably get two Airtecs for one...

So real terms a Pro Alloy will do better than a 500 around 400hp?

hard to say but last back to back test the 500 didnt do that well against these newer ones, maybe wait for the new airtec to come out, as i think airtec are better than pro alloy in cooling nowdays but not sure

yes, may be better waiting for the results.

would imagine that any of the decent coolers out there would be ok for 400bhp though, only higher powered cars will benefit from the more upto date coolers new on the market now imo.

Will be getting the 100m Airtec on there when I go over 500hp, but good to know about the Pro Alloy, picked up for good money glad it will perk up the spec a bit at 400hp...

Would the map need tweaking just swapping intercoolers?

Do you have a normal 500 intercooler on the car? If so I wouldn't have even updated it with 400hp "unless you are actually seeing high temps on track" as all I bigger intercooler is going to do at that power is make it less responsive all be it miniscule these are the gains you are going to get from fitting it to a 400hp car

Yea should have said, original 500 on there...

I'm not expecting anything other than minuscule TBH, reason I asked is if it's worth keeping the Pro Alloy I've got or not, got someone asking after it.

That's what I'm aiming for give or take, close to 520-530 as I can

Go any pics of the cross member now?

imo, sell the pa one now and when you uprate the power then go for a bigger and better one.

                        Dave.

Meant to when I dropped the car off... asking here because I don't fancy swapping over until I get the Airtec in any case, wondered who runs what generally as well.
