Also can you still get the 'double washer' plates? Or are they really needed??

Do you know how much? As my popular ford parts program says 1.53 euros!!! EACH for the bolts.

I'll just be getting 12.9 suitably socket head bolts I reckon.

I can measure my own tomorrow but want a head start.
      Cheers, Kev.

Use 12.9 and you are ok.
Even if you go to specialized bolt shop that kind of bolts are a bit expensive. Usually bolts are specific for car industry (head shapes), I bought short ones for beam steady plate and were expensive almost as ones from Ford.

          M8 allen bolts @ 12.9 are fine

The ford ones are identical to the ones you'd buy from an iron mongers except you'll be able to get the lot from an ironmongers for less than a tenner

Just thought i would mention that on the two wheel drive shafts the threads on these bolts is not the usual for that size bolt so i would check the thread pitch before buying any, from memory i think it was a 1.25 and not 1.5.

it may not be the case on the 4x4 but i would check before buying something that does not fit.

              4x4 use the standard pitch

For the uninitiated (probably only me ) what does 12.9 stand for? Is this the tensile strength of the bolt?

                  Thanks

Try getting them in stainless steel as well !

                        Sorry to hijack the thread,

Slightly off subject, but does anyone know what the engine mount to block bolt strength is? ive got some Stainless 8.8s, but they dont "feel" very heavy duty..

                        Cheers

                          I'd guess at a minimum of 10.9
