OK this is the report for the car

turbo missing, no injectors, front brakes discs rusted, ball joint boots split, power steering leak, o/s outer cv boot leak, rust to the chassis/legs, insecure power steering and brake lines, o/s floor pan holed, fuel lines rusty, front wheels founling liner, scren to o/s/r tyre, steering wheel loose, chip in the screen, handbrake sticking, a pillars cracked, rear anxle cracking
Engine and gearbo and electrics not tested.

what do we think this will go for at auction....

You need to work out what its going to need in parts.

used engine and ecu - 4k?
APs - 800-1500
Chassis welding - £800?
custom fuel system - 500?

Id try to gauge worth it would be worth fixed, then subtract the cost of parts etc and use this as an auction limit!

Also it wont have any service history with it so the apparent 45,000 it has on the clock could be 145,000.

It has the engine just not turbo and ECU... I know it has no ECU as I found his ebay account and he sold it recently.

Does the above rust sound right for one of these? Sounds extreme on the paperwork.....?

Yeah true, might book some time off and go down auction day, take a look and see how much interest is in the car, its a Escort Cosworth so as longs as its cheap enough it will always be worth something, ie parts so the worst case I brake it up to get my money back if its worst than it looks.

Well today is the auction and I am leaving it. It has not gone through yet and I just cannot get the time to go down and see it. I will kick myself if it goes through for peanuts but as RS500 Reg above has said, it would have to be that kind of money to be worth a gamble. They posted a pic of the engine bay and the turbo has been taken off and nothing has been put into the inlets etc so anything could of got into the engine. I cannot do engine work so would just be too much for me to mess around with.

Bridgewater car auctions guys under the police lot. You have to be a trader to buy over the phone or online. Otherwise you have to be there on the day.

Bit gutted but like has been said above, I think you can get one in better condition, on the road and only in need of cosmetic help for around 7k, this one is too much of a gamble for me
