  • Escort Cosworth vs. Escort MK2 RS2000

    Hi guys,

Today a lad visit me with an very nice complete rebuild MK2 RS2000. We had a chat and he let me drove his MK2 RS. I was quite impressed, was a nice drive. I'd have had several MK2 escort's but this one felt good.

It had a new rebuild engine (new pistons etc), twin idf 44 webbers (new bought), rebuild gearbox, diff etc. Engine mad 150bhp on the dyno. The Escort is completely stipped, and rebuild. The whole lot has done about 3000 miles.

He suggest of swapping it against my (average condition) T25 Escort (no rust, rebuild engine 20k ago, new gearbox, +- 280bhp). I've doubt that this is a good idea??

    What should you guys do?

    Some pic's of it

being honest, the mk.2 escorts are growing in value all the time, more than the escort cosworths.

what do you value your cosworth at as the escort mk.2 will be around £12k-£15k for a really good one...more for excellent ones.

    Dave.

In the current market id swap.

MK2 would probably be easier to sell on as well.

True about the grow in value. Problem for the lhd market is that the most people can't value the mk2 rs2000 escort's. If it was a mk1 it would be worth twice the price.

My escort cosworth is in an average condition, did had a full respray but not concours. It's just a nice cosworth. Does have the usual upgrades (rs500 ic, chip , exhaust, silicone hoses). I think it would be worth between £13-15k. Hard to tell.

I would personally keep the cosworth given the choice if you enjoy driving it and it doesn't sit in the garage all year round.

If you want an investment as a garage ornament I would seriously consider the swap.

Saying that I am still in the honeymoon period with my escos having owned it for a month only so don't know if my opinion will be the same in 6 months
